SPINACH AND FETA QUICHE – LOW CARB, KETO, GLUTEN-FREE, GRAIN-FREE, THM S

Flakey crust and a creamy spinach filling are sure to be a family favorite, just like our house. Normally, it’s impossible to talk kids into eating spinach. But, with this spinach quiche, all kids are happy to gobble it down, and they don’t even realize it’s healthy.  I think it’s the cream cheese and feta that causes them to devour every drop.
If you ever host a brunch or have friends or family staying with you, I highly recommend this keto quiche. It’s fancy enough to impress your guests, but still good old fashioned comfort food at the same time.

WHAT IS QUICHE?

A quiche is a dish that is savory and often has a flakey crust. It’s filled with a variety of foods like meat, cheese, veggies, and eggs. You can enjoy a quiche while it’s hot or even after it has been chilled. You will find it at parties and brunches, and it’s great for serving to a crowd.

HOW DO YOU KNOW A QUICHE IS DONE?

When you check the spinach quiche, it shouldn’t be overly jiggly or moist in the center. If it is, then it’s not all the way done and should be baked a little bit longer. Once the keto quiche is done, you should be able to see that the center is set. Plus, you can take a knife or toothpick and poke the center. If it comes out clean, it’s ready to be removed from the oven.

SPINACH QUICHE OPTIONAL VARIATIONS

Everything about this keto quiche is rich and flavorful. Sometimes, you may want to add in a few extra ingredients! Go ahead and make this recipe your own by adding your favorites. Try out some of these fun ideas:
  • Bacon – Cook some bacon and crumble it. Then sprinkle it on top of the cream cheese mixture. Perfectly salty and tasty!
  • Mozzarella – If you don’t want feta or happen to not have any switch it out with some mozzarella. Gives it an even creamier flavor and texture.
  • Onion – Sautee some white onions in a skillet with a little bit of vegetable oil. Add them to the cream cheese!
  • Mushrooms – Adding a few mushrooms will make this spinach and feta quiche even heartier. Yum!
  • Ham – If you want some meat, add in a few pieces of diced up ham. It pairs nicely with the cream cheese and spinach.

FRITTATA VS QUICHE

A frittata and quiche are very similar dishes. They usually have the same types of ingredients like eggs, meats, vegetables, cheeses, and seasonings. But a frittata is usually cooked inside of a skillet. Quiche is traditionally baked and has a pie crust on the bottom.

DOES THIS SPINACH AND FETA QUICHE HAVE TO HAVE CRUST?

No, you can make this spinach and feta quiche without a crust. Simply follow the directions except for skip the crust portion completely. Either way, it’s going to taste great and is still really easy to make.

HOW TO MAKE MINI QUICHE

If you are serving a crowd, sometimes it’s fun to make mini quiches instead of full-sized. Plus, you can do a variety of flavors easier this way too. To make mini quiche, instead of using a traditional sized pie pan, use muffin tins instead. Spray the muffin tin with cooking spray or use reusable liners. Bake for 20 – 25 minutes or until they are done.

HOW TO STORE THIS EASY QUICHE RECIPE?

After baking, allow the spinach and feta quiche to cool all the way down. You never want to store it when it’s hot, or it will cause condensation to build up in the storage container. Then it will become slimy and unappealing. You can either store the entire quiche pie in one container, or you can wrap up individual servings with plastic wrap. Store in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
To reheat, put the spinach quiche on a microwave-safe plate and warm-up for 1-minute intervals until it’s hot in the center. Another option is to warm the keto quiche in the oven at 350 degrees. Bake it for 10-15 minutes until it’s hot.

CAN YOU FREEZE QUICHE?

Yes, absolutely you can freeze quiche! Make sure the quiche is protected by wrapping it with plastic wrap it then storing it in an airtight container. It will last 3-4 months in the freezer. This makes it ideal for meal planning because you can just grab one out and reheat it as needed.
To reheat, thaw in the fridge the night before. Then heat in the oven or microwave.
